Best. Movie. Ever.

The Simpsons!
Went to the Midnight showing of "The Simpsons Movie" last night, and it was an event. The theater was packed, mainly with kids who were born after the show first began. I've been a HUGE fan of this show since it started, as most of you reading this are, too I'm sure. It is the best show ever on television, and all of the hype surrounding the movie was worth it. I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable movies I've ever seen.
The plot focuses mainly around Homer, and how he basically dooms Springfield to oblivion, and must save the day to regain the love and trust of Bart, who has turned to Flanders for unconditional fatherly love. Yes, we've seen this story a few times before on the TV show, but it's been on for 17 years! Plus, the way Bart is portrayed is that of a regular kid looking for the love of his father. It's very sweet without being well, gay.
You've all seen the commercial with Homer singing "Spider Pig, Spider Pig, does whatever a Spider Pig does" as he lifts the pig to have it walk on the ceiling. There's more to this bit and it KILLS! Homer's fascination with this pig is not only hysterical, but a major plot point. Too funny - soda will come out of your nose, be careful.
With commentary on the environment, modern politics, and pop culture (the sendup of the Alaskan version of 'Grand Theft Auto' is priceless), The Simpsons Movie does not fail to deliver the clever, edgy, and intelligent humor we've all grown to love and admire. Or in Seth Macfarland's case, ripoff. (he's the "Family Guy' creator)
Go see this movie now. Take a long lunch today and see a matinee. Go tomorrow. You will LOVE it if you love the TV show. Just be sure to get enough sleep before you go. My buddy Tom slept through most of it. That's no dig on the film, however. Tom also fell asleep in a strip club once! It's true. But he's a new Dad - used to being in bed by 9:00.
4 stars, 2 thumbs, and whatever else I can say that means "great movie!" If this does not win for best animated film at the Oscars (even though "Ratatouille" was very, very good), then I will never again watch that Hollywood monstrosity of a production.
And just to keep this political, since Dubya had those polyps removed from his ass, I figure they were caused by the blood of our soldiers that was on Dick Cheney's hands.
TB
ps Just to be clear, I liked the Simpsons Movie.
